NORTHFIELD, Vt. (December 10, 2026) – The Western New England men's wrestling team returned from winter break and dominated the mat on Saturday afternoon, coming up with two dual match victories, defeating the hosting Cadets of Norwich University 31-17 and finishing the day with a resounding 51-3 victory over the Cougars of Kean University. 

How it Happened (vs. Norwich University):

Western New England got off to a quick start as Clayton O'Connor picked up a 15-8 decision victory in the 125 lb. weight class. Antonio Intintoli matched that with a win of his own in the 133 lb. weight class, earning a 14-10 decision win. Norwich earned a fall win at 141 lbs. to tie the match at six, but the next five matches went Western New England's way as WNE pulled ahead for good. James Linder picked up a win via technical fall, 17-2 in 4:24 at 149 lbs. Matthew Rodriguez continued his dominance on the mat with a major decision win, picking up a 16-4 victory. Teghan McConnell picked up a technical fall of his own, 19-2 in 4:57. At 174 lbs., Maxwell Bluhm recorded a fall victory, Western New England's only fall of the match, adding six points to the victory total. WNE's final win of the match came at 184 lbs. when Jaylen Hawkins dominated 184 lbs., picking up a 15-0 win in 2:24. The Golden Bears came around with a 31-17 victory. 

Six fall victories paced the Blue and Gold over Kean University, including four out of the first five matches, all favoring the Golden Bears. Clayton O'Connor, Antonio Intintolo, James Linder, and David Lisk all earned victories via fall for the Golden Bears. After Kean took the 165 lb. weight class, Western New England bounced back for victories in the final four matches, earning a decision, forfeit, and two fall victories as the Golden Bears cruised to a 51-3 win over the Cougars.
