Records:
Western New England: 13-6-0 (9-3-0)
Curry College: 9-9-1 (5-7-1)

How it Happened:
First Period:
  • The contest started just as Friday's did, with Mabel Gerard winning the opening faceoff. However, 6:15 into play, the contest took a turn from what the previous matchup had seen, and the Colonels had the lead thanks to Morgan Slough scoring after a shot from Darby Marshall was saved by Rachael Irving. The Colonels led 1-0.
  • The teams traded shots before the Colonels earned the first power play of the evening. There were two shots on the Colonels' power play, one from each team. The teams each took turns take a few shots at a time before the period ended with the Colonels still in the lead, 1-0.
  • The Colonels outshot the Golden Bears once again, 13-7 on goal. Only one other shot was taken by the Colonels. The Golden Bears took 12 total shots. The Colonels also won more faceoffs, 9-7.
Second Period:
  • The second period of play saw the Colonels still earn most of the shots, but WNE found their way onto the scoreboard. 12 of the first 15 shots in the middle period of play went in favor of the Colonels. The Colonels were holding their momentum through faceoff wins and constant shots at goal. Irving would not let another goal through.
  • The Colonels would get called for a penalty with 7:28 left in the second period of play. 13 seconds later, Jenna Lynch scored an unassisted goal on the power play, and the score was tied 1-1 with 7:15 left in the second.
  • Both teams traded shots to end the second, but nothing was getting past Irving or Sarah Kerr, Curry College's goalie. That was until Jenna Lynch found the back of the net once again with 33 seconds left in the second. Maddie Pope assisted the goal, and WNE led 2-1 despite being outshot 35-22 in total shots through the second and 23-16 in shots on goal.
Third Period:
  • The Golden Bears opened the final period of play with a flurry of shots. They had the first four shots. The Colonels answered with a few before they were called for a penalty. WNE had eight shots during the power play, but Kerr and the Colonels held WNE from scoring.
  • The teams went back and forth down the ice before WNE had four shots in a row and earned another power play, where they had 4 shots and earn another power play. They had a 5-on-3 chance for ten seconds and then another regular power play.
  • WNE had two shots on the power play, but no goals, and the Colonels felt a momentum shift after killing off back-to-back penalties. They had eight shots in a row after that. Then, with two minutes remaining in the contest, they pulled their goalie to get an extra skater. They would get called for a penalty after only one shot on goal with the extra skater, and that would practically end the game for the Colonels.
  • The contest ended with WNE winning their second game versus the Colonels 2-1. However, the Colonels led the Golden Bears in shots 55-52 and shots on goal 34-29. The Golden Bears would win more faceoffs, 30-25, and block more shots, 8-7, with Michaela Birmingham and Jenna Lynch each blocking two.
Inside the Crease:
  • The Golden Bears defeated the Colonels to complete the weekend sweep, 2-1.
  • Jenna Lynch led the Golden Bears with two goals on the evening, making it seven consecutive games with a point.
  • Maddie Pope had the lone assist for WNE.
  • Rachael Irving made 33 saves and let up one goal to pick up a .971 save percentage and WNE's sixth win in a row.
  • Morgan Slough had the lone goal for the Colonels, with Darby Marshall assisting that goal.
Up Next on the Schedule:
  • The Golden Bears will travel out to Harrisville, Rhode Island, for a Friday afternoon matchup at 3:40 PM versus Nichols College. That contest will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026.
