SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 19, 2026) – Western New England field hockey sophomore Mikayla Mrzywka had another impactful week for the program, earning Conference of New England weekly recognition for the second straight week and third time overall this season. 

Mrzywka continued to lead Western New England in scoring and did so in both games this week. Mrzywka opened the week by guiding the Golden Bears to a fourth quarter comeback after the Blue and Gold fell behind by three goals in the fourth quarter and eventually tied the game before falling 5-4 in overtime. Mrzywka had a hand in three of WNE's four goals at MIT, picking up two more goals and coming away with a helper in the game. Mrzywka took five shots, putting every shot on goal. Mrzywka added three more points to her season total in a conference contest at Nichols College this past weekend, the WNE sophomore continued to go to work on the offensive end, finding the opening goal of the game for the Golden Bears and also added an assist on Western New England's second tally of the contest, helping lead the Blue and Gold to a 3-0 victory over the Bison. 
Mrzywka finished the week with eight points overall, coming away with three goals and two assists, taking 18 total shots, putting 13 on goal. Mrzywka now has 17 goals and five assists on the year, good for 39 total points while also recording 82 shots, 58 on goal, and scoring four game-winning goals, including last Saturday's
at Nichols College. 

The Western New England field hockey team has a busy week, playing three games, opening up with a road contest on Tuesday, October 20 at 7:00 PM, traveling to Wesleyan University.
