GORHAM, Maine (February 7, 2026) – The Western New England men's wrestling team came out of the Southern Maine Quads victorious in all three matches on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Huskies 29-13, Trinity College 26-13, and Plymouth State University 58-0, sweeping the afternoon full of successes.

How it Happened (vs. Southern Maine):
Clayton O'Connor notched a win at 125 lbs. for the Golden Bears on a 3-0 decision to put the Blue and Gold in front. Southern Maine took the next two matches at 133 lbs., and 141 lbs., to take an 8-3 lead in the match. James Linder was victorious at 149 lbs., picking up a 4-3 decision win to add to WNE's total. In fact, Western New England ripped off six straight wins to take complete control of the match. Matthew Rodriguez picked up a major decision, 12-2 at 157 lbs., David Lisk an 11-1 major decision win at 165 lbs., Maxwell Bluhm a technical fall, 17-1 in 5:34, Nicholas Baccala a technical fall, 15-0 in 3:20 at 184 lbs., and Charles Maloy a technical fall win 15-0 in 2:35, that brought WNE's lead to 29-8 in the match. USM stole the heavyweight match, but the Golden Bears still picked up a 29-13 win over the Huskies.

How it Happened (vs. Trinity College):
The two teams split the opening two matches of the afternoon before Trinity gained an edge after winning the 141 lb. weight class. Similar to their match against USM, the Golden Bears dominated the middle weight classes, taking wins at, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, and 197 lbs. to come away with the match victory. Overall, James Linder, Matthew Rodriguez, David Lisk, Maxwell Bluhm, Nicholas Baccala, and Charles Maloy notched wins for the Golden Bears in their 26-13 win over Trinity.

How it Happened (vs. Plymouth State University):
A balanced attack from the Golden Bears saw a sweep in all ten weight classes over the Panthers. Six Golden Bears wrestled while four earned forfeit wins. Forfeits came at 157 lbs., 165 lbs., 174 lbs., and 197 lbs. Clayton O'Connor (125 lbs.), Antonio Intintoli (133 lbs.), Austin Monteiro (141 lbs.), James Linder (149 lbs.), Nicholas Baccala (184 lbs.), and Colton Wells (285 lbs.) were all victorious in their matches to lead Western New England to a sweep of the day, defeating Plymouth State 58-0.
