Records:
- Western New England: 4-4
- Thomas College: 1-7
How it Happened (Game 1 – 7 Innings Scheduled):
Second Inning:
- The Golden Bears got great starting pitching from Tanner Wall in the opening two innings, setting down the Terriers in order. Western New England rewarded their starting pitcher with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. Alex Grenier started the two-out hit parade with a single up the middle on an 0-2 count. Zach Drewry, who made his first start of the season, picked up a double to right field to score Grenier, giving WNE a 1-0 lead. Drewry advanced to third on a wild pitch and then came home on the third straight hit of the inning as Antonio Galizia singled to center field to drive in the run, giving the Golden Bears a 2-0 lead.
Third Inning:
- Thomas College did not go down in order in the top of the third as Jeremy Spencer doubled to pick up the Terriers' first hit of the game, quickly followed by the first home run of the season for Thomas, coming from Grady Hotham, as the WNE lead did not last long. The Terriers came away with three straight hits in the inning and were not done scoring after DJ Cagnina singled home Nick Griffel, giving the Terriers a 3-2 lead after the top of the frame.
Fifth Inning:
- Thomas extended its lead in the top of the fifth to pose a threat to the Golden Bears. Griffel continued to produce for the Terriers, coming up with a single and scoring on a fielder's choice for Thomas, giving the Terriers a 4-2 lead. Cagnina singled with two outs in the inning with a runner on third to give Thomas a 5-2 lead.
- The Golden Bears left three runners on base through the first five innings, unable to string any runs together.
Sixth Inning:
- Three straight hits from the Golden Bears in the bottom of the sixth started a rally as Corey Kilroy, Tyler Kornacki, and Alex Grenier produced three straight singles to load the bases with one out in the inning. The Terriers picked up an out on a strikeout to put the second out of the inning on the board, but the Golden Bears fought back, seeing Antonio Galizia secure an infield single to keep the bases loaded and score a run to trail 5-3, while Mark Zigmont picked up a two-RBI single up the middle to tie the game at five after six innings of play.
Seventh Inning:
- Thomas came back with a run in the top of the seventh inning after Gus Hollen singled up the middle with a runner on second to give the Terriers the lead back.
- Western New England loaded the bases with no outs in what was scheduled to be the final inning of the game. Greg Nivison delivered a single, Ryan Montini a double, and Corey Kilroy was intentionally walked. Down one, Tyler Kornacki delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game at six with runners on second and third with one out. Thomas reloaded the bases with a walk to Grenier, but the final two WNE batters in the inning couldn't bring a run home, as the game needed an extra inning to decide a winner.
Eighth Inning:
- Thomas brought seven batters to the plate in the top of the eighth inning and produced four hits and two runs in the frame. Gavin Clark came through with a two-RBI single for the Terriers, giving Thomas an 8-6 lead.
- Leo Paragarino had his first hit of the game in the bottom of the inning to put the tying run at the plate. With two outs, Ryan Montini singled to center field to put a pair of runners on, but the Golden Bears couldn't finish the job, leaving the two runners stranded on base and falling 8-6.
