Men’s Tennis Drops Conference of New England Opener, 7-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 21, 2026) – In its first Conference of New England match of the season, the Western New England men's tennis team was defeated at Forest Park Tennis Courts, dropping a 7-0 match to the Gulls of Endicott College.

How it Happened:

The third doubles pair featuring Nolan Jermain and Joshua Marx came up with a win over Endicott's Brenna Drolet and Ethan Hopman, but the top doubles spot, as well as the second doubles position, went the way of the Gulls, who took the opening point of the match. Colby Esposito and Michel Abizaid Nunez teamed up for WNE in the first position, while Quinn Northrop and Eston Fowler fell in the second doubles match. 

In singles play, only one match went more than two sets, as Endicott rolled past the Golden Bears. Colby Esposito fell in the top spot to Conrad Kadel, 6-1, 6-4. Quinn Northrop's second position singles match ended 6-4, 6-4 in favor of Endicott's Drew Benporath. Eston Fowler dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Eric Scalici in the third spot, while Nolan Jermain came up short, 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth singles match. Endicott's Aaron Terpko picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Michel Abizaid Nunez in the fifth position. Kyle Poccia dropped a tiebreaking set to Greg Noroian to open the sixth singles match, but came back to force a third set after winning 7-5 in the second set. Poccia couldn't finish off the match with a win, falling in the tiebreaker, 10-5, seeing the Golden Bears come up short to open CNE play, falling 7-0.

  • The Golden Bears return to the courts at Forest Park in Springfield on Monday, March 23 at 3:30 PM, hosting Suffolk University.
