HILTON HEAD, S.C. (
March 8, 2026) – The Western New England men's tennis team opened the 2026 spring season in Hilton Head with a dominant 7-0 victory over the Knights of Mount Saint Mary University, taking all nine matches in the win.

How it Happened:
The Golden Bears came away with wins in all three doubles matches to start off with a quick 1-0 lead.
Kyle Poccia and
Connor Lord started Western New England off with a 6-4 win in the top doubles spot.
Joshua Marx and
Henry Runyan combined for a 7-5 victory in the second spot for the Golden Bears, while
Brandon Allen and
Abdou Djermakoye added a 6-2 win in the third spot to sweep the Knights in doubles play.
Western New England continued to dominate the courts in singles play, taking all six singles matches to come away with the win overall. The top spot saw
Colby Esposito earn a 7-5, 6-3 win over MSM's John Paul Corinni.
Quinn Northrop dominated the second singles position, winning 6-1, 6-2. In the third position,
Eston Fowler needed a tiebreaker in the opening set, but prevailed 7-6 (8), while taking the second set 6-4 to earn a victory.
Nolan Jermain's match in the fourth singles position saw the WNE junior drop the opening set 4-6, but bounced back in the second set 6-4, and took the tiebreaker 11-9 to earn the win. The fifth singles position saw
Michel Abizaid Nunez sweep MSM's Dylan Stackpole in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Connor Lord finished off the sweep for WNE in the sixth position, also taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory, leading the Golden Bears to a 7-0 victory, the first win of the spring season.
