Owls Use Big Inning To Glide Past Baseball, 11-4

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 1, 2026) – Despite scoring the first run of the game, the Western New England baseball team was downed 11-4 behind an eight-run third inning by the visiting Owls of Keene State College, who ran away with the win at Trelease Park on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened:

First Inning:
  • Aiden Bisaillon made the start for Western New England on Wednesday afternoon, and got the Owls in order in the top of the first inning, rolling a quick double play to open the contest. 
  • Western New England scored in the bottom of the first inning, seeing Tyler Waterbury, Leo Paragarino, and Corey Kilroy notch three straight singles, seeing Waterbury come around on the Kilroy hit, giving Western New England a 1-0 lead early. 
Second Inning:
  • KSC responded quickly, coming away with the tying run in the top of the second frame, seeing a groundout score a run to even the score at one.
Third Inning:
  • The top of the third inning favored the Owls, who scored eight times and sent 14 batters to the plate in the inning to bury Western New England. KSC grabbed three hits off Bisaillon before the first-year was pulled in favor of Kyle Welsh, who couldn't get an out, facing six batters, seeing KSC lead 9-1. Connor Flynn came in relief and finished out the inning, but not before the Owls put up eight hits and eight runs in the frame to take the commanding lead. 
Seventh Inning:
  • Flynn tossed 3.1 innings, giving up just three hits and no runs, striking out two to keep Keene State at bay. 
  • WNE scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning, showing signs of life in the game. Jack Gamache led off the inning with a single, followed by a hit from Zach Drewry and a hit-by-pitch to Connor Cowern, quickly loading the bases for WNE. Brody Enos pinch-hit for Western New England and drew a bases-loaded walk, Kyle Cyr reached on a fielder's choice to earn an RBI, and Andrew Florek doubled in a run as Western New England trailed 9-4 after seven innings. 
Eighth Inning:
  • The Owls picked up a run in the top of the eighth inning after KSC pinch-hitter Brice Waldron doubled to score Matt Silk, putting the Owls in double digits with 10 runs in the game. 
Ninth Inning:
  • The final run of the game came from the Owls, seeing Emmett Borenstein ground out to score the 11th KSC run of the game. Western New England failed to add any runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, seeing the Owls take an 11-4 victory. 
Inside the Lines:
  • Aiden Bisaillon tossed just 21 innings, giving up five hits and six runs, walking two and did not strike out any batters. 
  • Kyle Welsh, Connor Flynn, Todd Grammatico, Ian Brais, and Lucas Kamoen all came out of the bullpen for WNE. 
  • Both Leo Paragarino and Zach Drewry had a pair of hits for the Golden Bears. 
  • Keene State's Mason Pingree was impressive, picking up his first career collegiate victory, going six innings, giving up five hits and a run, while striking out seven Golden Bears. 
  • The Owls have taken the last two wins against WNE at Trelease Park.

  • WNE looks to regroup in Conference of New England play, traveling to Endicott College on Saturday, April 4 for a doubleheader at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
