Box Score BIDDEFORD, Maine (April 11, 2026) – The Western New England men's tennis team came up with a key road victory in Conference of New England action on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Nor'easters of the University of New England in the first-ever meeting between the two teams by a final score of 5-2.

How it Happened:
Doubles action did not favor the Golden Bears, who saw the hosting Nor'easters take the opening point of the match, a match that was crucial to both teams in the Conference of New England standings.
Quinn Northrop and
Eston Fowler were dropped in the second position by a final score of 6-3. The Golden Bears pulled
out a 6-4 win in the third doubles spot as
Nolan Jermain and
Kyle Poccia took a 6-4 win as the doubles point came down to the top position, where
Colby Esposito and
Michel Abizaid Nunez fell 6-2, as UNE opened the match with a 1-0 lead.
Singles action favored Western New England as three matches finished in quick order to put the Golden Bears ahead 3-1.
Kyle Poccia gave up just one game in his 6-1, 6-0 win in the fifth singles spot.
Eston Fowler took away a 6-1, 6-3 victory over the Nor'easters' third singles player as WNE took a 2-1 lead in the match.
Connor Lord then came up with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the sixth spot, putting Western New England ahead 3-1. WNE locked up the victory in the match in the fourth singles spot where
Michel Abizaid Nunez earned a 6-1, 6-4 win, putting the Golden Bears ahead 4-1.
Quinn Northrop's second position singles match went the distance after the WNE sophomore opened the match with a 6-2 win, but fell 4-6 in the second set. Northrop bounced back for a 6-2 win in the final set, giving Western New England a 5-1 lead.
Colby Esposito's first position singles match also went three sets, but the senior fell in the third set 5-7. Western New England locked up the victory by a final score of 5-2 to improve to 4-5 in CNE play this season.
