Bunnell, Henry Go For Career Afternoon’s In 20-8 Win Over Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. (April 12, 2026) – The Western New England women's lacrosse team was led by junior Lyndsey Bunnell and senior Ella Henry on Saturday afternoon in a Conference of New England contest at Nichols College where the two combined for 19 points in an emphatic 20-8 win.

Records:
  • Western New England: 8-6, 4-3 CNE
  • Nichols College: 6-4, 4-3 CNE
How it Happened:

First Quarter:
  • Western New England and Nichols went back and forth in the opening half of the first quarter as the all-important first goal was battled for by both teams. WNE had the better of the offensive chances in the quarter, which resulted in the opening goal of the game at the 9:21 mark of the quarter when Ella Henry found the back of the net on an assist from Ella Nish, giving WNE a 1-0 lead. The goal from Henry sparked three straight from the WNE senior, who put the Golden Bears ahead quickly by three, 3-0.
  • Allison Cyr continued the scoring for the Golden Bears before Nichols had its first goal of the game at the 6:09 mark to get on the scoreboard. WNE didn't let Nichols back into the game, however, as Lina Eves and Lyndsey Bunnell put up back-to-back tallies to give the Golden Bears a 6-1 lead.
  • Both teams added a goal before the end of the quarter, with Cyr scoring for WNE to give the Blue and Gold a 7-2 lead after the opening 15 minutes of action. The Golden Bears took 12 shots in the opening quarter, eight of which were on goal and seven that found the back of the net.
Second Quarter:
  • Lyndsey Bunnell continued to produce on the offensive end for Western New England, adding the eighth WNE goal of the afternoon, giving the Golden Bears an 8-2 lead. Emily Picolla made two saves on the Bison in the opening four minutes of the quarter before allowing Nichols to get their third mark of the game, dropping WNE's lead to five, 8-3.
  • Nichols scored twice in a row before Ella Henry was back in the scoring column to spark back-to-back goals for WNE to lead 10-4 with three minutes to play in the frame. The Bison added a goal to make the score 10-5 at the end of the quarter.
  • Nichols had the 11-6 shots advantage in the second quarter, but Emily Picolla came up strong, making seven saves between the pipes.
Third Quarter:
  • WNE had the opening two goals of the second frame when Lina Eves and Sydney Miles scored to see the Golden Bears open a seven-goal lead, 12-5. As they did for much of the afternoon, Nichols had a response with the next two goals this time coming in just 20 seconds to get back within five, 12-7.
  • Western New England had a strong response to the Nichols offense, closing the quarter out with the final two tallies as Bunnell and Eves scored for the Golden Bears, taking a 14-7 lead into the final quarter.
  • Both goalkeepers made three saves each in the frame, while WNE held a close 7-6 shots advantage.
Fourth Quarter:
  • For the first time in the game, Nichols had the first goal of the quarter, but Western New England had a response to put the game away, scoring four goals in under three minutes of action. Goals from Ella Henry, Allison Cyr, Carlie Francis, and Lina Eves helped WNE take an 18-8 lead.
  • The final two goals of the game belonged to the Golden Bears, who ran away with a 20-8 victory. Allison Cyr and Henry had the final two goals of the game while Lyndsey Bunnell factored into 11 of WNE's goals in the victory, helping the Golden Bears come away with a 20-8 victory.
