BOSTON, Mass. (April 18, 2026) – The Western New England men's tennis team came up short in its final Conference of New England match of the season, falling a match short to the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology, dropping a 4-3 decision on Saturday evening.

How it Happened:
With an important doubles point on the line to begin the match, the Golden Bears got out to the start they were looking for, seeing
Quinn Northrop and
Eston Fowler locked up a 6-0 victory over James Weete and Jasper Pearman of Wentworth in the second position. WIT's Rene Rodriguez and Grace Ferguson then combined to come up with a 6-2 win in the third position over
Nolan Jermain and
Kyle Poccia, as both teams split the opening matches of the day, leaving the doubles point down to the top pairing. In that match, Western New England battled, but could not defeat Wentworth's top duo, as
Colby Esposito and
Michel Abizaid Nunez fell 6-3, seeing Wentworth come up with the opening point of the match to lead 1-0.
Kyle Poccia opened singles action with a resounding 6-2, 6-0 win over Wentworth's Chris Hu to tie the match at one.
Michel Abizaid Nunez won his fifth position singles match in straight sets, giving WNE a 2-1 lead in the match, coming away with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Wentworth fought back in the third position to even the match at two as
Eston Fowler fell 6-4, 6-4 to James Weete. The Leopards took the lead back with a win in the fourth singles spot, a 7-5, 6-1 win over
Nolan Jermain to go up 3-2, needing one more point to cash in the victory for the match. The second singles position finished with a win for WNE's
Quinn Northrop, who needed three sets to come up with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Rene Rodriguez, tying the match at three and leaving the match in the hands of the top singles match. There,
Colby Esposito dropped the opening set 6-1, before forcing a tiebreaker in the second set, but couldn't overcome a strong Andre Juscamaita from Wentworth, dropping the second set 6-7 (7) as Wentworth came up with the 4-3 match win.
