MILTON, Mass. (April 18, 2026) – The Golden Bears drove out to eastern Massachusetts for a showdown with the Colonels of Curry College. The teams would fight to a close 5-3 first half. However, an eight-goal third quarter saw the Golden Bears cruise past the Colonels 15-6.
Ella Henry and
Lina Eves led the way with four goals each for the Golden Bears in their big win.

How it Happened:
First Quarter:
- The Golden Bears started the contest in Milton, MA, with a big four-goal opening quarter. Lina Eves got the Golden Bears on the scoreboard with the opening goal, unassisted, 47 seconds into the game.
- WNE then saw Samantha Montecalvo and Lina Eves score back-to-back goals within 26 seconds of each other to extend their lead to 3-0. Eves had an assist on Montecalvo's goal, too. Lyndsey Bunnel would add to the advantage with a free position goal 5:29 into the contest, and it was 4-0.
- The Colonels' Ella Palanza received a pass from Sarah Kelly and cut the lead to 4-1 with 3:05 left in the first. It was an impressive first quarter from WNE on the scoreboard and at the draw. They controlled all six draws in the first quarter, leading to their big lead after the first.
Second Quarter:
- The teams swapped goals early in the second. It began with a Nicole Michael goal for Curry College off an assist from Ava Doyle. The score was 4-2. Ella Henry then scored on a free position attempt, and WNE led 5-2.
- Alexa Puopolo and Emily Picolla traded saves to keep the opposing offenses at bay before Phoebe Sartory scored during a man-up chance from a free position attempt, and the score was 5-3.
- That goal was scored with 7:06 left in the first half, and the 5-3 scoreline would stay that way for the entire time remaining. WNE had the lead in shots (13-10), shots on goal (8-6), and draw controls (7-2) after the first half. Curry had more saves (5-4) and ground balls (16-14).
Third Quarter:
- After a low-scoring second quarter, WNE exploded for eight goals in the third and blew the game open. It started with an Alison Cyr free-position goal. Sarah Kelly then grabbed a goal back for the Colonels off an assist from Nicole Michael. WNE led 6-4.
- Lina Eves scored her hat-trick goal 4:50 into the third off a free position attempt, and WNE had a 7-4 lead. Then, the avalanche of goals started. The last 5:37 saw a man-down goal from Ella Henry off an Allison Cyr assist. Then, an even goal from the same duo.
- Lyndsey Bunnell got the lead to 10-4 off another assist from Cyr. Henry scored a free position goal after that, leading to a Colonel timeout. Eves would score a fourth goal with 1:53 left off a Bunnell assist before Valerie DuVal scored with thirteen seconds left. Gabby Sliwka assisted the goal, and WNE took a 13-4 lead to the final quarter of play.
Fourth Quarter:
- WNE extended their goal streak to nine with goals from Alyssa Pereira and Sydney Miles in the first 3:16 of the final quarter of play. Cyr assisted the Miles goal. WNE led 15-4 early in the fourth.
- The Colonels answered with two goals of their own. Sarah Kelly scored a free-position goal before scoring another goal just over two minutes later to cut the WNE lead to 15-6. That would be the final goal for either side, and WNE earned the much-needed win.
- The Golden Bears earned the win and led the statistics sheet by taking more shots (27-17), taking more shots on goal (18-9), scooping more ground balls (30-28), and winning more draw controls (17-7). The Colonels made more saves (8-6).
Inside the Lines:
- WNE won the battle with Curry College, 15-6.
- The duo of Allison Cyr and Lina Eves helped lead WNE to the win, with both players earning five points. Eves had four goals and an assist, and Cyr had one goal and four assists.
- Ella Henry picked up the other hat-trick for WNE, with four goals in the game.
- Sarah Kelly led the Colonels with four points, three goals, and one assist.
- Emily Picolla earned the win for the Golden Bears with six saves and only four goals allowed.
