Women’s Tennis Falls In Non-Conference Action Against UMass-Boston, 5-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 7, 2026) – The Western New England women's tennis team fell in non-conference action on Tuesday evening from Forest Park Tennis Courts, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Beacons of UMass-Boston.

How it Happened:

The Golden Bears took the doubles point in the match to go up 1-0. Malina Dinis and Lauren Bilodeau combined for a 6-4 win in the second doubles position in a win over Shreya Saravana Raksh and Valerie Cuenca. The third doubles spot then saw Yasmine Giacalone and Kayla Ledoux combine for a 6-4 victory over Kathy
Roqueza and Karina Khalsa, earning the Golden Bears the 1-0 lead in the match. 

UMass-Boston took exception to the opening point by the Golden Bears and defeated Western New England in five of the six singles matches to take the win over the Golden Bears. Western New England's lone victory came in the fifth singles spot, where Kayla Ledoux earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kaya-Lilliana Rutkows in dominant fashion. Emma Miller, Malina Dinis, Lauren Bilodeau, Yasmine Giacalone, and Gabrielle Tirkot all dropped their individual singles matches on the afternoon as Western New England fell by a final score of 5-2 in the match.
