SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (August 14, 2026) – Both the Western New England men's and women's soccer teams received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, recognized for their exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year.

A total of 777 soccer teams (326 men, 451 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year. Of that total, 175 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

The Western New England men's soccer team, guided by head coach Devin O'Neill, posted a 3.30 team GPA for the 2025-26 season. WNE women's soccer, headed by Kristin Hensinger, received a 3.56 GPA in the classroom to earn honors. Western New England men's and women's soccer are two of just six teams in the
Conference of New England (CNE) to have both teams earn honors from the organization, joining Endicott College and Suffolk University. The Nichols College men's soccer team, Roger Williams men's soccer team, and Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team were also honored.

The WNE men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Tuesday, September 1 for a road contest at Western Connecticut State University at 4:00 PM. WNE women's soccer opens its 2026 schedule the following day with a crosstown rivalry game against Springfield College on Wednesday, September 2 at 6:00 PM.
