SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 22, 2026) – Two members of the Western New England men's golf team have been added to the Conference of New England weekly awards list following yesterday's New England Classic tournament, as Kyle DeGroff and Timothy Spitz received honors for the Golden Bears.

DeGroff was named Co-Golfer of the Week for the CNE following his medalist finish at this weekend's tournament. DeGroff shot a 75 (+3) on day one of the tournament, coming away with eight pars, four birdies, four bogeys, and a double bogey, finishing the round in fourth place overall. DeGroff shot two strokes under par on day two of the event, picking up ten pars, five birdies, and three bogeys for WNE, shooting a 70 overall, the lowest round of any golfer on either day of the event. DeGroff tied for first place in the event, his first collegiate medalist honors at the collegiate level. 

Spitz put together another impressive performance for Western New England this weekend, taking third place overall at the New England Classic. Spitz shot a 73 (+1) on day one of the event, picking up 11 pars, four bogeys, and three birdies for the round. Spitz shot three strokes over par on day two to lock up the third-place finish, shooting a 75 overall, comprising of ten pars, four bogeys, three birdies, and a double bogey on the day. Spitz's third-place finish is his best finish for WNE through three events this season.

The Western New England men's golf team will take on the Conference of New England Championships next, to be played at Blackledge Country Club in Hebron, Connecticut, hosted by the University of Hartford.
