SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 28, 2026) – Western New England football's Logan Watts has earned honors from the Conference of New England this week as the Special Teams Player of the Week, the first Golden Bear to receive weekly honors from the conference office this season. 

Watts played a key role in the success of the team last weekend, recording a blocked punt and returning it for a touchdown, helping lift the Golden Bears to a 28-21 victory in the first CNE game of the season. Watts recorded the block and was able to scoop and score the touchdown in the third quarter, allowing the Blue and
Gold to take a 21-7 lead in the game. Watts also recorded one tackle for Western New England on special teams, helping lift the Blue and Gold to victory. 

The WNE sophomore is honored by the conference for the first time in his career and becomes the first to be honored by the conference this season. Watts is the first Golden Bear to win Special Teams Player of the Week since teammate Max LoGrasso won the award twice last season. 

WNE Football heads to Husson University on Saturday, October 3, for a Conference of New England showdown at 1:00 PM. WNE has dropped its last two meetings with the Eagles in Bangor, but earned a 35-10 victory last season at Golden Bear Stadium.
