Biography

2015 (Junior Year): Emerged as Western New England's ace, earning an All-CCC second team selection after going 4-4 with a 2.55 ERA (9th in CCC) and two complete games in ten appearances (nine starts)...struck out 60 batters (3rd in CCC) and issued 21 walks in 60.0 innings of work...had at least five strikeouts in each of his starts, including a career-high nine twice and eight once...earned his first win of the season against Bowdoin in Florida, striking out nine batters while allowing one earned run over eight innings (3/19)...limited Nichols to one unearned run with six strikeouts in six innings (4/11)...recorded six more punchouts over six frames in a 1-0 loss at Curry (4/18)...in his final start of the season, matched his career-high with nine strikeouts over eight innings as the Golden Bears defeated WPI 11-4 in the ECAC Championship quarterfinal (5/6).

2014 (Sophomore Year):

Appeared in six games on the mound, making three starts...went 1-3 with a 3.91 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 23.0 innings of work...took the loss against Framingham State despite striking out five and giving up just two earned runs in six innings (4/8)...earned his first career win in his last start of the season, matching his season-high with seven strikeouts over a season-high eight innings in a 5-3 win over Bridgewater State (4/25).


2013 (Freshman Year): Made 11 appearances out of the bullpen in his first year on the squad posted a 5.51 ERA over 16.1 innings of work...made collegiate debut on March 2 against Keene State...struck out four batters in a two-inning outing at Eastern Nazarene on April 19...with 14 strikeouts in 16.1 innings, he had one of the highest ratios for the Golden Bears...ranked second among WNE rookie pitchers in games and innings pitched.

High School: Played varsity baseball in his senior season at Pomperaug made All-South-West Conference in 2012, throwing two no-hitters as a senior member of the team that won the 2011 SWC championship played in the 2012 Connecticut All-Star game captain of the American Legion Post 195 baseball team in 2013 graduated in 2012.

Personal: Born David Steven Cherry on Sep. 2, 1994 in Milwaukee, Wis brother, Adam, plays baseball at NCAA Division I La Salle University...parents are Jonathan and Maryanne wants to work in the front office of a professional team after graduation likes watching movies...Favorites: movie--Miracle; actor--Heath Ledger; pro team--MLB's New York Yankees; athlete--Muhammad Ali; food--chicken parmesan; musical group--Blink 182; place--New York City...sport management major.
