Biography

Entering this Season: Adds depth to the back line...tri-captain...two-year letterwinner and returning starter, having never missed a game for the Golden Bears...WNE's active leader with 20 defensive saves--the most in the Commonwealth Coast Conference since 2012...postseason awards candidate.

2013 (Sophomore Year): One of the nation's leaders with 16 defensive saves, finishing fifth in NCAA Division III and first in the CCC...that number ties a single-season school record...named to the All-CCC Second Team and academic all-conference...recorded a career-high seven penalty corners against Endicott on Oct. 12...notched at least one defensive save in all but seven outings.

2012 (Freshman Year): Was one of 11 freshman on the squad...led team with four defensive saves...started in all 19 of the team's games...voted the team's co-rookie of the year...had two defensive saves in her collegiate debut Sep. 1 at Keene State.

High School: Earned three field hockey letters at Bishop Stang in Dartmouth...served as a team captain for two seasons...Bishop Stang's defensive MVP...accolades included Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team, Fall River Herald All-Scholastic Team, Standard Times Super Team and two-time Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star...played on undefeated teams during her junior and senior seasons...three-time EAC champion... also lettered one year in track and field...played club field hockey for Lead the Way...graduated in 2012.

Personal: Born Katherine Leslie Ferrari on Feb. 11, 1994 in Boston, Mass....parents are Steven and Gretchen...nickname is Kat...co-curricular activities include Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Life Skills Mentor, Captains' Club...WNE Honors Program...Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society inductee...brother, Michael, ran track at Division I Rhode Island, and twin sister, Margaret, plays field hockey at Division III Union College...Favorites: pro teams, MLB's Boston Red Sox and NHL's Boston Bruins; food: Italian; city: Boston...plans to attend graduate school...forensic biology major, with a minor in chemistry.
