Biography

2015 (Junior Year): Appeared in 21 games, hitting .298 (14-for-47) with three doubles, seven walks, and nine RBI...posted a .417 on-base percentage and scored seven runs...went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double in an 8-5 loss to Gordon (3/30)...posted a 4-for-5 effort at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI in an 11-2 win over Babson (4/27)...went 3-for-5 with a walk and two RBI in Western New England's two ECAC Championship contests...caught seven runners stealing (T-11th in CCC) in 19 attempts.

2014 (Sophomore Year): Appeared in 11 contests, recording two hits and two runs...picked up his first career hit, a single, in a 3-1 win over Eastern Nazarene (4/19)...singled, stole a base, and scored a run in his next game as the Golden Bears defeated Bridgewater State, 5-3 (4/25).

2013 (Freshman Year): First season on the team was cut short to three games due to injury...he started in all three of those contests, making his collegiate debut on March 16 against Amherst at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational...in that 7-5 win, he went 0-for-1 with a walk and was hit by pitch, while scoring a run...made the University's Dean's List.

High School: Lettered twice at Pomperaug made the All-Colonial Division Team helped PHS win the South-West Conference championship twice during his sophomore and junior years the team also captured the Connecticut Class LL state championship in his sophomore season...graduated in 2012.

Personal: Born Matthew Michael Calzone on June 16, 1994 in Waterbury, Conn. likes fishing wants to be an athletic director at the intercollegiate level after graduation parents are Frank and Carole siblings are Dan, Chris, Jason and Jeremy...cousin, Bryan, pitched for WNE...Favorites: movie--The Sandlot; pro teams--New York Yankees of MLB and the NFL's Jets...food--calzone...sport management major with a coaching minor.
