ALLENTOWN, Pa. â€" Senior forward Anthony Charbatji (Attleboro, MA) led four players scoring in double figures with a game high 18 points as Western New England College defeated Hartwick College 62-49 in the third place game of the Scotty Wood Tournament.

It was the first win of the season for the Golden Bears and new coach Mike Theulen.

Trailing 34-30 at half-time, Western New England College went on a 14-0 run to start the second half for a 44-34 lead. The Hawks pulled within 46-41 with 9:54 left in the game before a pair of three-pointers by junior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) (centered around by Hartwick free throw) upped the margin to 52-42 at the 7:48 mark.

Godbout finished with 17 points, six assists, and three steals.

Junior forward Jim Bayne (Bristol, CT) contributed 13 points and seven rebounds while senior guard Jeremy Sternstein (Ithaca, NY) added 11 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Charbatji was named to the All-Tournament Team after scoring 30 points in the two contests.

This was the first meeting between the schools in 21 years. Hartwick posted an 85-63 win during the 1983-84 season.
