HAMDEN, Conn. - The Western New England College women's soccer team defeated Albertus Magnus 4-1 on Wednesday to remain undefeated in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Junior Ashley St. John (Barre, VT) had a goal and assist to lead the Golden Bears who improved their record to 8-4-3 after winning for the fourth time in their last five outings.

Western New England College raised its GNAC mark to 7-0 following its fifth shutout against a conference opponent.

Junior Megan DeAngelo (East Longmeadow, MA) scored in the 33rd minute to give the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead at half-time. Freshman Melissa DaCruz (Ludlow, MA) earned the assist.

WNEC upped its advantage to 3-0 after goals by junior Jen Woishnis (Chicopee, MA) in the 55th minute (with an assist from St. John) and sophomore Danielle Matte (Nashua, NH) in the 60th minute. It was Matte's team best 10th goal of the campaign.

Albertus Magnus scored in the 87th minute before St. John tallied two minutes later to complete the scoring.
