KEENE, N.H. - Say this about the Western New England College women's soccer team, they didn't back down without a good fight.
The fifth-seeded Golden Bears ended another successful season with a 2-0 loss at fourth-seeded Keene State Wednesday in a quarterfinal round match of the 2005 ECAC Division III New England Championship.
The two teams staged a defensive battle until the Owls finally broke through by scoring in both the 70th and 79th minutes.
It was a much better performance than the season opener when WNEC dropped a 6-0 decision to Keene State.
This was only the Golden Bears' second appearance in an ECAC post-season tournament. Coach Ron Dias' team capped a 20-2 season in 1998 by winning the ECAC Division Metro Tournament crown.
