BENNINGTON, Vt. â€" Sophomore forward Jim Bayne (Bristol, CT) had his 13th double double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds, and senior guard Jeremy Sternstein (Ithaca, NY) contributed a career high 20 points to lead visiting Western New England College to a 77-66 victory over Southern Vermont College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.

Bayne was 9-for-17 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the foul line while Sternstein was 3-for-6 from the field (including a three-pointer) and 13-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Sophomore center Malik Champlain (Norwich, CT) added a career high 12 points and pulled down six rebounds while junior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) chipped in with 12 points, four assists, and three steals while committing only one turnover in 40 minutes.

Southern Vermont was hot from three-point territory making 8-of-19 shots (42.1%) but WNEC had its best showing of the season from the foul line converting on 20-of-21 attempts (95.2%).

The Golden Bears led 36-30 at half-time and made 12-of-26 shots from the field (46.2%)and 17-of-18 foul shots (94.4%) in the second half.

Western New England College is now 14-7 (10-4 GNAC) after winning its fourth straight game and seventh in its last eight contests.
