Box Score CHICOPEE, Mass. - Western New England College defeated Elms College 17-4 to capture its second straight New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) regular season title Monday at Leary Field.
The Golden Bears (9-6) finished with a perfect 6-0 mark in the conference this spring while the Blazers (8-5) were second at 5-1.
Senior Kristen Pimental (Tiverton, RI) led the way by scoring six goals with an assist while junior Alyson Nowell (Feeding Hills, MA) added four goals and two assists. Sophomore Audrey Kelton (Wilder, VT) had an eight-point afternoon with two goals and six assists. All three players passed the 100-point mark in career scoring this season.
Also scoring two goals were junior Shannon Montgomery (Bay Shore, NY) and freshman Kayte Devine (New Fairfield, CT). Sophomore Jessica Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) had the final goal of the game.
Junior goalie Tara Cushman (Scituate, MA) made 13 saves in a strong performance.ÂÂ
Western New England College scored the first seven goals of the game and took a 9-1 lead at half-time.
 The Golden Bears out-scored its conference opponents by a 119-25 margin this spring.
WNEC will host Worcester State at 7:00 p.m. Thursday (April 28) in a semifinal round game of the NEWLA Tournament at Golden Bear Stadium.
