Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - In a game that featured seven ties, Western New England College dropped a tough 11-10 non conference decision to former NEWLA rival Bridgewater State College Tuesday at Golden Bear Stadium.
Sophomore Erica Murphy led the visitors with three goals and two assists, including the game-winner with 32 seconds remaining in the contest.
Sophomore sensation Audrey Kelton (Wilder, VT) had four goals and an assist for the Golden Bears to tie the single season scoring total of 97 points previously established by Shannon Pizzingrilli. Senior Kristin Pimental (Tiverton, RI) contributed three goals in her final appearance while junior Alyson Nowell (Feeding Hills, MA) added two goals. Senior Sarah Cunningham (LaGrangeville, NY) had two assists in her last home game.
The game was tied 4-4 at half-time before Western New England College (11-7) scored three unaswered goals in the opening 7:03 of the second half. Bridgewater then reeled off four straight goals for an 8-7 lead before the contest was tied at 8-8, 9-9, and 10-10 on Kelton's final goal with 9:57 left in the game.
Bridgewater State left the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance at the end of last season to play an independent schedule.
