EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Tim Lacrocca (East Longmeadow, MA) knocked home the game-winner with 4:40 left to lead the Western New England College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Johnson & Wales in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener Saturday at Pierce Stadium.

Junior goalie Chris Wilk (Derry, NH) made five saves for the Golden Bears who improved their record to 6-1.

Western New England College out-shot Johnson & Wales by a 20-10 margin. Goalie Stephane Ost kept his team in the game by making 14 saves. JWU falls to 3-4.

Last year the Golden Bears defeated the Wildcats by the same score in the championship match of the GNAC Tournament.

Western New England College is ranked fifth in the NSCAA Division III New England Coaches Poll.
