Western New England College drops decision at Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Western New England College's field hockey team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Thursday with a 2-1 non-conference loss at Mount Holyoke College.

The Golden Bears (6-2) trailed only 1-0 at half-time despite being outshot by a 13-1 margin. Sophomore Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) tied the contest with 10:39 remaining in the game with an assist from freshman Caitlyn Gelber (Centereach, NY), but the Lyons (5-1) netted the winning goal with 2:17 left.

Senior goalie Jillian Brown (Plymouth, MA) had a season high 13 saves for Western New England College.

This was the first of seven straight road contests for Coach Sarah Kelly's team who visits Castleton State in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) battle on Saturday.
