Late goal by Cori Eggerts lifts Western New England College to win over Endicott

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) scored the game-winning goal with 22 seconds remaining to lead the Western New England College field hockey team to an exciting 3-2 victory over Endicott College in a first-round game of the Zenaty Invitational held at Springfield College's Benedum Field.

The Golden Bears, who defeated Keene State on penalty strokes Thursday night, will meet host Springfield in the championship game starting a 1:00 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 4). The Pride defeated Eastern Connecticut 6-1 in an earlier game.

Junior Stephanie Gildart (Portland, ME) scored the first goal of the contest while junior Alison Jameson (Brattleboro, VT) assisted on the last two scores.

After a 1-1 half-time tie, junior Suzanne Loutrel (Springfield, VT) gave the Golden Bears a 2-1 advantage at the 45-minute mark of the second half. The Gulls tied the gameon a goal by senior Ashley Wallace approximately 10 minutes later.
