Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - Senior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) led Western New England College with 22 points, but Emmanuel College prevailed at the foul line for a 73-68 win Tuesday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.
Freshman forward Kyle Fredette (Wallingford, VT) scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds with three blocked shots in his Golden Bears' debut. Sophomore guard Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) contributed 12 points after draining four three-pointers in the second half.
Western New England College outscored Emmanuel from the field (26-19), but the Saints went 33-for-45 from the charity stripe while the Golden Bears were only 7-for-15.
WNEC had a five point lead (11-6) at the 12:51 mark of the opening half, but trailed 32-28 at intermission.
The Golden Bears came back to take a one-point lead on three occasions, the last time at 59-58 following a three-pointer by Hernandez with 5:18 remaining in the contest. The Saints responded with an 8-0 run, then held off a late visitors rally.
Western New England College, which was playing its first contest since December 10, falls to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
