Box Score NASHUA, N.H. - The Western New England College men's basketball team ran its winning streak to five games with a well-earned 72-60 victory over Rivier Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game.
Senior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) again led the way by scoring 19 points as the Golden Bears finally made it back to the .500 mark at 7-7 while improving to 5-2 in the conference.ÂÂ
Freshman guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) also played a key role in ther win by scoring 14 of his 16 points after intermission.
Western New England College had a 37-28 lead at the berak before Rivier cut the margin to three (50-47) with approximately 11 minutes left in the game.
Maynard stepped up big at that point by scoring 10 unanswered points to hold off the upset-minded Raiders.
This was Western New England College's second win in the Granite State in less than 72 hours. The Golden Bears defeated Daniel Webster 82-50 on Wednesday night and are now 3-0 on their current road trip that ends Tuesday at Southern Vermont.
