Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Sophomore Emily VanLare (Farmington, NY) scored two goals and senior Jackie Dubey (Middlefield, CT) netted the second goal of her career as the Western New England College women’s soccer team coasted to a 7-1 victory over visiting Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match Wednesday (Oct. 18) at Suprenant Field.
The Golden Bears scored their first two goals in a 16-second span in the 21st minute on shots by senior Jen Woishnis (Chicopee, MA) and freshman Angie Zguro (East Longmeadow, MA). For Woishnis, it was her team best sixth goal of the season while for Zguro it was her first collegiate goal.
WNEC also received goals from senior Kristin Thornton (Bedford, NH) and sophomore Kelley MacDonald (Fairlee, VT).
Freshmen Kelly Conover (Manchester, NH) and Amanda Libertine (Deerfield, MA)Â contributed assists for their first collegiate points. Sophomore Molly Chamberlain (New Britain, CT) and Melissa DaCruz (Ludlow, MA) also had assists in the match.
The Falcons’ lone shot was a goal by freshman Leanna Weisslender (New Haven, CT) on a breakaway in the 78th minute.
Western New England College is now 7-6-2 and 4-1-2 in the conference while Albertus falls to 2-12 and 1-6 in the GNAC.
