NASHUA, N.H. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team defeated Southern Vermont 3-0 and lost a Great Northeast Athletic Conferemnce (GNAC) to host Rivier 3-1 Saturday afternoon (Oct. 21).
The Golden Bears had no problems against the Mountaineers taking all three games by the scores of 30-24, 30-10, and 30-17.
Sophomore Sarah Wainright (Gilford, NH) had nine kills while freshman Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) contributed six kills and six aces.
Senior Teddy Woeppel (Cooperstown, NY) and freshman Erin Seifert (Chicopee, MA) each chipped-in with five kills.
In the second match, Western New England College dropped a close first game 33-31, but came back to take the second game 30-26. The Raiders, however, prevailed in the next two games 30-24 and 30-27.
Cervone turned in another solid effort with nine kills, four blocks, and two aces. Senior Jess Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) added 27 assists while senior Kristin Wellen (Marlboro, MA) had 20 digs.
Western New England College has an overall record of 15-9 with a 7-2 mark in the GNAC.
