Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. â€" Senior midfielder Scott Rogers (Middlefield, CT) scored in the first half and senior forward Evan Heymann (Ipswich, MA) found the net in the second half to lead the Western New England College men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over visiting Suffolk University in an intense Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest Saturday (Oct. 7) at Suprenant Field.
It was the third goal of the season for both Rogers and Heymann, and the third straight win for the home squad.
Senior midfielders Michael Zawislak (Newark, DE) and Scott Bullis (Barre, VT) each added an assist as the Golden Bears improved their record to 8-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
Senior goalkeeper Chris Wilk (Derry, NH) made four stops for Western New England College who had a 14-5 advantage in shots.
Senior Scott Panzano (Holmdel, NJ) made five stops for the Rams who lost for only the second time in eight outings. Suffolk is now 3-2 in the GNAC.
Western New England College (15) and Suffolk (13) combined for 28 fouls in the hard-hitting match.
