BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Sophomore Kaitlin Zangle (Wingdale, NY) fired home the game-winner with 1:47 gone in the third extra session to lift visiting Western New England College to a dramatic 11-10 victory over Bridgewater State College in a non-conference women's lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Michelle Thompson (Wilbraham, MA) led the Golden Bears with a career high seven goals. Her final score put WNEC ahead 10-7 with 7:32 remaining in the game.

Bridgewater State rallied and sent the contest into overtime when sophomore Alison Gugliotta (Norwood, MA) knotted the game on a free position shot with just 35 seconds left in regulation.

Neither team scored in the two three-minute overtime sessions until Zangle ended the suspense with her second goal of the game.

Senior Tara Cushman (Scituate, MA) compiled 18 saves in a strong performance while junior Jess Vogel (Tonawanda, NY) contributed three assists.

The win was the sixth in a row for the Golden Bears who host Castleton State in a semifinal round game of the NEWLA Tournament at 4:00 p.m. Saturday (Apr. 29). Bridgewater State falls to 4-8.
