Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Western New England College spotted host Wesleyan University a two-goal lead that was hard to overcome as the Golden Bears dropped a 2-1 decision Sunday afternoon (Sept. 24) in a non-conference men's soccer match.
The Cardinals (5-0) scored in the 44th minute for a 1-0 lead at intermission and netted what proved to be the winning goal in the 62nd minute.
Western New England College (5-3-1) averted the shutout when senior Scott Bullis (Barre, VT) scored his first goal of the season with an assist from classmate Tim Larocca (East Longmeadow, MA) with 1:57 remaining in the contest.
Senior goalkeeper Chris Wilk (Derry, NH) made six saves for the Golden Bears.
Wesleyan has won all five matches this season by identical 2-1 scores.
