NASHUA, N.H. â€" Rivier College knocked the Western New England College men's basketball team from the unbeaten ranks in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 64-60 victory Monday afternoon (Jan. 15).

WNEC (8-6, 5-1 GNAC) trailed 36-25 at half-time, but got within two after holding the Raiders scoreless for the first six minutes of the second half. The game remained close until the end with Rivier holding on for its fourth straight win.

Junior forward Jim Bayne (Bristol, CT) had his seventh double-double of the season for the Golden Bears with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) also netted 13 points and dished out four assists while junior guard Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) contributed 10 points.

Former Sabis International standout Junior guard Asif Abdul-Wadud (Springfield, MA) added eight points and four assists for Western New England College.

Jeff Carpenter had a double-double for Rivier with 10 points and 10 boards. Justin Parker also tallied 10 points for the Raiders (9-4, 4-2) who received 32 points from their bench players.
