MILTON, Mass. – Junior forward Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY) had a goal and assist to lead the Western New England College men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over host Curry Wednesday night (Oct. 3).
The Golden Bears took a 2-0 lead in the first half when senior Matt Sullivan (Springfield, MA) and Hare tallied unassisted goals in the 14th and 34th minutes, respectively.
Senior Mike Stewart (Springfield, MA) gave WNEC a 3-0 lead with an assist from Hare in the 49th minute. He and Sullivan were also teammates at Cathedral High School.
Curry got on the board when Shawn Harrison fired home a goal with four seconds remaining in the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Bak (Cumberland, RI) made six saves to earn his second collegiate victory for the Golden Bears. Clark Zelazo stopped 11 shots for the Colonels.
Western New England College raises its record to 7-3-2 and 6-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. Curry drops to 4-6-3 and 2-3-3 in the conference.
