PURCHASE, N.Y. - The hard-luck Western New England College field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision in overtime at Manhattanville College Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 18) in a non-conference contest.

Kirstin Bertsill (Parkton, MD) netted the game-winner with 33 seconds remaining in the extra session for the Valiants who improved their record to 6-2 with their fifth one-goal win of the season.

Manhattanville out-shot WNEC by a 32-9 margin, but senior goalie Emilie Donka (White River Junction, VT) kept the Golden Bears in the game by making 21 saves in a strong performance.

Lauren Gagnon stopped four shots for the Valiants who recorded their first shutout of the season.

Western New England College remains winless at 0-6 after losing its fourth contest by a single goal.
