SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior co-captain Danielle Matte (Nashua, NH) scored both goals as the Western New England College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to six games with a 2-0 victory over visiting Salve Regina Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 26).

The Golden Bears improved their record to 8-2 and remained perfect in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with a 5-0 mark.

Matte opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an assist from freshman Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) and netted her third goal of the season in the 26th minute.

Western New England College enjoyed a big edge in shots (19-4) as sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) only had to make two saves.

Sophomore Katie Vaudrain (Pawtucket, RI) compiled six saves for the Seahawks who are now 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
