SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Heather Boino (Dalton, MA) netted the game-winner with her first collegiate goal as the Western New England College women's soccer team defeated visiting Roger Williams University Saturday afternoon (Sept. 29) at Suprenant Field.

This was the seventh consecutive victory for the Golden Bears who now have a 9-2 record, including a perfect 6-0 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

WNEC took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when freshman Heather Mortell (Webster, MA) fired home with seventh goal of the season.

The Hawks tied the match in the 23rd minute on a goal by senior Caitlin Mayo (Merrimack, NH) with an assist from sophomore Amanda daCunha (Wethersfield, CT).

Boino then connected on the winning shot in the 42nd minute as the Golden Bears took a one-goal lead into intermission.

The Western New England College defense was stellar allowing only three shots in the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jen Garside (Londonderry, NH) finished with three saves for Roger Williams who is now 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
