KEENE, N.H. - Keene State broke open a close game with three goals in a span of four minutes in the second half for a 6-0 victory over visiting Western New England College in a non-league women's soccer match Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 5).

The Owls, playing their home opener, led 1-0 at half-time before putting the contest away in the second stanza. Michelle Boland (Worcester, MA) and Molly Brunelle (Walpole, NH) each had a goal and assist. Six players scored goals for the home team.

Western New England College had a chance to tie the contest late in the first half when freshman Heather Mortell (Webster, MA) fired a shot from the right side that just missed the net. Sophomore goalkeeper Jess Covino (Bristol, CT) finished with 11 saves.

Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, MA) had four stops for the Owls before freshman Ashley Molly (Manchester, NH) came in to make one save.

Both teams are now 2-1.
