BANGOR, Me. - Husson College scored the only goal of the game just 44 seconds into the second period for a 1-0 victory over visiting Western New England College in a first round match of the Husson Women's Soccer Classic Saturday afternoon.

Junior Laurie Melen (Londonderry, NH) netted the game-winner with an assist from sophomore Danielle Lorusso (Sandwich, NH). Junjior goalkeeper Tatyana Wolterbeek (Moody, ME) preserved the shutout with seven saves, including a nice stop late in the opening half.

The win was first in three outings for the Eagles and the 100th for coach Keith Bosley.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) compiled six saves for the Golden Bears who now have a 2-2 record.

Western New England College meets SUNY Farmingdale at 11:00 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 9) in the second round of the tournament.
