ANo. 14 Western New England College ties Salve Regina in conference match

Box Score

NEWPORT, R.I. - After almost two hours of action, the Western New England College men's soccer team and host Salve Regina battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 14).

This was the Golden Bears' second consecutive draw against a Rhode Island opponent after tying Roger Williams in a scoreless match last Saturday in Bristol.

WNEC held a 16-9 advantage in shots, including a four-to-one edge in the extra sessions, but couldn't score.

Junior goalkeeper Kyle Bak (Cumberland, RI) compiled five saves for the Blue and Gold in relief of junior starter Dan Ruscigno (Wappingers Falls, NY) who left the contest in the sixth minute with an injury.

Junior Kurt Ginthwain (Tolland, CT) also stopped five shots for the Seahawks.

Western New England College now has a 9-1-4 record, including a 6-0-3 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Salve Regina is 7-6-1 and 5-3-1 in the conference.
