SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward Heather Mortell (Webster, MA) had a goal and assist as the Western New England College women's soccer team won its third straight game with a 3-0 victory over visiting New England College Tuesday (Oct. 21) at Suprenant Field.

The win gives the Golden Bears a 6-10 overall record along with a 5-6 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

New England College falls below .500  at 7-8-1 and even at 5-5-1 in TCCC action.

WNEC led 2-0 at halftime following goals by Mortell in the 28th minute and freshman midfielder Morgan Vogt (Henniker, NH) with 54 seconds left before the break. Freshman Cathy Regan (Monroe, CT) assisted on Vogt's shot.

Senior midfielder Molly Chamberlain (New Britain, CT) wrapped up the scoring in the 82nd minute with the assist from Mortell.

The Golden Bears had 32 shots in the match while the Pilgrims managed only three.

Western New England College junior goalkeeper Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) made two saves in picking up her third shutout of the season.

Junior keeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, NY) stopped eight shots for the visitors.

WNEC heads back on the road with a non-conference outing at Western Connecticut at 7:00 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 23).
