Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College men's soccer team had a big shot advantage, but had to settle for a 0-0 double overtime tie against the University of New England Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25) during "Senior Day" at Suprenant Field.
The Golden Bears, ranked 22nd nationally and third in New England, are 12-1-5 overall and remain the only undefeated team in The Commownealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with an 8-0-4 mark.
WNEC outshot its guests 28-11, including an 8-2 edge in the extra sessions and took 13 corner kicks to the visitors' two.
Junior goalkeeper Kyle Bak (Cumberland, RI) made three saves for the Golden Bears and is now 4-1-3 this fall.
Junior keeper Derek Poulin (Scarborough, ME) stopped 12 shots (nine in regulation) for UNE who is now 4-7-4 overall and 3-6-2 in the conference.
This was also Family & Friends Weekend and before the match, the College honored its six seniors for a job well done.
They were Brian Dill (Portland, CT), Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY), Jim Maples (Pleasant Valley, NY), Casey Schick (Glen Rock, NJ), Dale Totman (Conway, MA), and Kevin Zimbal (Schenectady, NY).
Western New England College visits Wentworth on Wednesday (Oct. 29) in the final match of the regular season. The Golden Bears are tied for second in the league with Curry, a point behind Roger Williams.
