Morgan Vogt nets winning goal as Western New England College surprises UNE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Morgan Vogt (Henniker, NH) tallied the game-winner 59 seconds into the second half and Western New England College continued to play strong defense in posting a 1-0 decision over visiting University of New England Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25) during its annual "Senior Day."

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) compiled three saves as the Golden Bears raised their record to 7-11 overall and 6-6 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

WNEC has now captured its last four league outings by shutouts to move into a sixth-place tie with Colby-Sawyer.

Junior keeper Leigh Engel (Richmondville, NY) stopped seven shots for the Nor'easters who fall to 11-4 overall and 9-3 in the conference.

Western New England College honored its three special seniors, Molly Chamberlain (New Britain, CT), Kelley MacDonald (Fairlee, VT), and Shivaun Wheeler (Southington, CT).

WNEC closes out its regular season at Wentworth on Tuesday (Oct. 29).
