PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior running back Jeff Mack (Milford, NH) ran for 197 yards and four touchdowns to lead Plymouth State to a 40-20 victory over visiting Western New England College before 3,000 Homecoming fans Saturday (Oct. 4) at Currier Field.

The Panthers are now 4-1 and 2-0 in the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd Division after defeating the Golden Bears for the 11th straight time.

Western New England College falls to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the Boyd Division.

Mack scored three touchdowns in the first quarter (the second one following a fumble) to give the hosts a 21-0 advantage.

WNEC got on the board following a one-yard run by junior quarterback Justin Walz (Groton, CT) 38 seconds into the second stanza.

Sophmore running back Steve Campbell (Northborough, MA) ran four yards for a TD on the next possession and Mack rambled 66 yards for his final touchdown to give Plymouth State a commanding 34-7 margin at halftime.

The Golden Bears accounted for the final two scores of the contest on another one-yard run by Walz midway through the third quarter and a 35-yard pass from Walz to junior receiver Chris Vaillant (Holliston, MA) with 5:18 left in the game.

Walz completed 17-of-31 passes for 196 yards with an interception and five sacks.

Junior running back Chris Winn (Norwich, CT) added 49 yards rushing on 11 carries with a long of 23 as the Golden Bears finished with 294 total yards.

Vaillant ended with four receptions for 47 yards while junior Cliff Carpluk (Long Valley, NJ) had four catches for 55 yards.

Sophomore linebacker Dylan Chandler (Durham, ME) had a game high 13 tackles.

Plymouth State totaled 357 yards with all of its yardage coming on 52 attempts on the ground.
