Curry blanks Western New England College in first conference match of the season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman goalie Julie Tinetti (New Haven, CT) recorded six saves for her first collegiate shutout as the Curry women'ssoccer team defeated host Western New England College 3-0 Saturday (Sept. 13) at Suprenant Field in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) opener for both squads.

Junior forward Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, MA) added two goals for the Colonels who improve their record to 3-1-1.

She started the scoring bid for the visitors in the 14th minute with the assist by freshman Suzie Jensen (Framingham, MA).

Sophomore forward Laura Lydon (Riverside, RI) fired home a shot into the right corner in the 32nd minute, and Hansbury wrapped up the scoring in the 81st minute with the assist by Samantha Velezis (Waterbury, CT).

Freshman Mallorie Nai (West Suffield, CT) recorded one save for WNEC in her first outing as goalkeeper. She replaced junior starter Jessica Covino (Bristol, CT) who missed the contest with an injury.

Western New England College falls to 1-4.
