NORTON, Mass. - Senior forward Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY) scored the game-winner in the 79th minute to lead the visiting Western New England Colelege men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Wheaton in a non-league match Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 16) at Keefe Field.

The win gave the Golden Bears a 3-1-2 record while the Lyons suffered their first loss in falling to 2-1-2.

Both teams kept one another off the board for most of the contest until Hare took a pass from senior forward Dale Totman (Conway, MA) for his third goal of the season with 11:02 left.

Junior goalkeepr Dan Ruscigno (Wappingers Falls, NY) made four saves for his second win of the year.

WNEC held a 13-10 advantage in shots and 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Wheaton sophomore goalie Chris Smart (brookfield, CT) stopped six shots.

The Lyons entered the game ranked fourth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III New England poll.

The Golden Bears have a 3-0-1 mark in the last five outings of the series, although Wheaton leads 4-3-1 overall.
