Jason Sabia (Poughkeepsie, NY) notched a hat trick as the Western New England College men's soccer team shutout Anna Maria 6-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) match-up at Suprenant Field on Homecoming Day Saturday (Sept. 20).
Sabia ignited the scoring in the fourth minute as senior midfielder
Jim Maples (Pleasant Valley, NY) and senior forward
Dan Hare (Staatsburg, NY) assisted on the play. Sabia scored again ten seconds later with the help of Hare (four assists) as the Golden Bears never looked back.
Junior midfielder
Justin Martins (Ludlow, MA) put in his first two goals of the season and sophomore forward
John Parsons (Sunderland, MA) scored his first goal of the season as well.
Junior goalkeeper
Dan Ruscigno (Wappingers Falls, NY) and freshman keeper
Ben Pearl (Tenafly, NJ) split time in net for Western New England College (4-1-2, 1-0-1 TCCC) and combined for two saves.
Anna Maria senior goalkeeper
Scott Burokas (Auburn, MA) finished with eight saves.
Anna Maria (2-5, 1-1 TCCC) only had three shots to WNEC's 30.
